Prelude: Weight, Start Date and Goals:Pt 1

Hello! My name is Jamaica 26, hailing from the great state of Kentucky. I have decided to start this blog to document my weight loss journey. I have been overweight or obese my entire life, my highest weight being at 250lbs. I decided last year in 2011 that I wanted to do something about my weight, and over the course of 6 months dropped 40 lbs! However, I havent kept it all off. As of today I am back at 223. Thirteen pounds regained! Sad face. Even as difficult as weight loss is I want to get back up and get going again. My goal weight for my height and build would be 140lbs, which means that I have arounds 83lb to lose. Whoa! That's a lot but I know that I can do it.

My start date is only a few days away on the 1st of August. On that date I will post pics. I am kind of afraid too but I know that this we give me some reality on the unhealthy state of my body and be a motivator to do something about it.  Although my goal is weight loss, it is not the only one. I really want to change my lifestyle. I have grown up in a family were unhealthy food was the norm. Family get together's consisted of greasy fattening food, no less delicious! But as a result my mother is now diabetic, has high blood pressure and has had open heart surgery. Most of these conditions are easily passed from parent to child and as a result I have decided that I don't want to go down that route, especially if it something that can be preventable.
